Spelling City: I got a class membership for Spellingcity.com which is online. Here are the student logins that they can use from home. I added the lesson 3 lists. The workbook list is for the students that are completing the workbook with Mr. Cope. The Canadian Spelling list are for the students who are working in the duotangs with Ms. Jaclyn. I added another workbook list that also contains the extra challenge words.


Homework for January, 22nd

Math: Chapter 7 Lesson 2 Page 184 A-E


Test Envelopes: Please sign and return if you have not. The Scholastic orders are due by Monday, January 29th.

Spelling: Lesson 17 workbook and test are due on January 26th.

Memory Verse: Due January 26th

Due to the Bible Test this Friday, we will not be having a memory verse this week.

Bible:
This week, we will be preparing for a Bible quiz to be held on Friday. Students should be studying from the sections of their book that will be specified and hilighted on Monday. They will also be receiving a review worksheet to help them direct their studying.


Week of January 22nd

Math: We will continue working on Chapter 7 on 2-D Geometry.

Students should also be working on learning their multiplication tables. There are websites like mathplayground.com, Prodigy, and multiplication.com that allow students to practice math skills in a fun manner online.

Memory Verse: Due January 26th

Science: We will continue working on the unit on light. This week we will be looking at the eye.

Spelling: Lesson 17 workbook and test are due on January 26th.

(Please note that because our books are American, I always allow the students to either write the American or Canadian version of a word). The extra challenge words are optional for the students.

Extra Challenge Words: Olympic, tourists, reciprocal, plateau, testament


Literacy: We will continue working on the unit on Healthy living in the Literacy books. We will be focusing on Cause and Effect Text Patterns. We will soon be starting speeches. Students can start thinking about a topic. The topic must be something they research, not a personal topic.

Novel Study: "Tales of the 4th Grade Nothing". We will be reading Chapters 5 and 6 and answering some questions.

Social Studies: Our first unit in social studies will be Ancient Egypt.

This week, we look at the Valley of the Kings in Ancient Egypt. The will be a test on mummification, three kingdoms, farming and symbols of the Pharaoh. The test will be on Thursday, January 18th. We have checked to make sure all students have the notes. Here are the notes to help study at home in case books are forgotten.
